ABOUT THE BOOK

The idea of victimology however, is quite old but its growing importance has been realized now. The contribution of Western and Indian Thinkers and Judgments rendered by Courts of various Nations have also compelled us to rethink about our Criminal Justice System in order to see whether it has been successful to cater the needs of victims. Hence, amendments have been made in Criminal Procedure Code in order to tune it according to victims. Many legal rights and important provisions have been incorporated therein.

This book is written in order to expose the readers with the basic information of victimology. It highlights the basic concept and definition of various jurists, nature, scope, criminal-victim relationships and national as well as international prospect of victimology. Many important decisions rendered by our Honorable Supreme Court and High Courts have been discussed. At the end of the book, Drafts of U.N. Conventions on Victimology have been included in order to provide original sources to the readers.
